Illustration Friday: Visitor

Oops - I missed the "s".

My red-gloved lady received a visitor. The visitor was going to be the Blue Bird of Happiness - but it "morphed" on me.

This scan really flattened out the painting. I used Daniel Smith's green gold and metallic gold. Very shimmery highlights with lots of depth. Immediately after I finished this illustration, I accidentally tipped my water on it. UGH!! Thank goodness for Photoshop!

This is so beautiful--sometimes these happy accidents make for much greater results, and this is a truly great work. It makes me want to try a looser, more elegant and simple approach.

I love this. It looks as though she had a hat that came to life!!! As for the scan dilemma, there's a way to "preserve luminosity" somewhere that I'll try to find for you in photoshop or while you're scanning. It might help. (or not!!!)

Mackie absolutely LOVES THIS! She's a bird lover and she squealed with delight as the page opened and this glorious green bird greeted her!
Fun watercolor and perfect companion for the red gloved lass!!

It looks like your red-gloved lady is having an eye-to-eye conversation with a green peahen. You have SUCH a vivid imagination, and I think your free-form stylizing is bringing this out even more. Nice job!
